REASON FOR MASSIVE FAILURE OF STUDENTS IN EXAMINATION IN NIGERIA….

It’s no news again that 60percent of students that engage in examinations fail to come out with good results. Some have different reason for which they come out failure in an examination while others do not.

The 40percent who get to make the pass mark may not really come out with good grades but maybe just a pass mark.

It’s been observed that majority of students that sit for examinations do not prepare for it. Some depend on other students to help them in the examination hall which sometimes they get disappointed, and as a result of that failure occur.

 

 

Another reason why students fail examination is as a result of emotional unbalance. Some students go for examinations having one or two things bordering them and as a result of this they are not able to think properly. When this is done, failure sets in.

Not been present in class can go a long way in contributing to the failure of students in examination. Some students maybe physically present in class but mentally absent which is capable of causing huge failure among students. Some students know their weakness which is if they are not in class when a topic is taught they may find it difficult on their own to understand it and they still absent themselves from classes.

 

 

 

 

“UNETHICAL AND UNPROFESSIONAL REPORTING SHOULD NOT BE OF JOURNALISTS”. COMMISSIONER FOR INFORMATION

 Nigerian Journalist has been advised to imbibe professionalism in their sourcing and dissemination of information for public consumption.

This was made known in a speech by the Honorable commissioner for Information and strategy Lagos State Lateef Aderemi Ibirogba at the third edition of the student week of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism Ogba held Wednesday 19^th June 2013.

The commissioner in his speech identified one of the roles of the media as watchdog, and he encouraged them as powerful professionals to ensure they perform their duty without fear of Government or any other department.

He identified a second important role of Journalist as representatives of the Nation; however, journalists are positioned as advocate or champions of the people.

The commissioner noted that the career Journalism has been in the forefront of various struggles for national development in the country since its inception in 1859 to this present democratic dispensation.

He however enjoined journalist to keep up the good work and ensure that the ethical standard of journalism is practiced now and even years to come.

In related development, he described objectivity as all moral ethics, values in any journalistic work, he stressed that objectivity should be the guide line of all professional journalist.

Lateef pointed out one wrong done in the Journalism profession which is not engaging in protocol of honoring our own senior advocate of the profession.

He added “if we are to do that, we have a long list of foremost practioners that deserve the title. Worthy of mentioning icons like Dr Obafemi Awolowo, Lateef Jakande , Bisi Onabanjo, Alahaji Babatunde Jose, Uncle Sam Amuka, Peter Enahoro, Dele Giwa, Segun Osobo and the host of others”

He urged Journalist despite being guided with stringent laws, monopolistic ownership, and sometimes the threat of brute force; they should still maintain the standard which has been from the time of the fathers of Journalism.

The former king and Queen Alex Ukem and Peace Nwajiobi who students thought were the most beautiful and handsome in the institution had no choice but to give to ceaser what belongs to ceaser which is the crown.
The two who were recently crowned one of the newest ambassadors of the institution during its student week which lasted from 17th to 22rd of June cannot but give thanks to God almighty for making one of their dreams come through.

In a brief chat with Bunmi shortly after he was crowned winner of the competition, he with joy and gladness said that his position as the new MR NIJ has not and will not change anything in him, be he sees it as a responsibility on him as a young Nigerian who is passionate about positive change.

He however noted his plans as the new ambassador of the institution “I will use my position as MR NIJ to influence youths positively because I still believe in the policy of good people great nation”

Bunmi also said “I will ensure that students take their academic more seriously so they can become that good great people we all dream about and Nigeria will become a better place”

Also in an interview with the MISS, who hails from Eboyi State sees her position as an opportunity to affect lives which she has always wanted to do.

Cynthia revealed to our reporter that she and Bunmi have two mapped out goal they want to achieve at the end of their reign which they refused to reveal till the end of their reign.

She also revealed that she will ensure that students maintain good morals in the institution. She noted that being beautiful is not all that matter, but beauty with intelligence will surely make away for people.

NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF JOURNALISM MATRICULATES 335 STUDENTS

The provost of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, ogba, Elizabeth Ikem has joyfully accepted new students into the Institution at different level to study Mass Communication.

She expressed this joy on Tuesday while addressing students at the 10th matriculation ceremony of the institute on the 5th, february 2013.

She revealed that α total number of 335 students have been offered Admission into National Diploma(ND),Higher National Diploma(HND) and Post Graduate National Diploma(PGD) both full time and part time level.

She noted,that"10th for the institution is Special, and it symbolizes greatness and the help of God almighty to resourcefully energize Nij into Nigerian's premier polytechnic in Mass Communication"

She added, the matriculation ceremony of today tells the story of an institution that has continued to wax stronger and stronger in Academic Excellence and Relevant to the media Industry.

However she enjoined students to cherish their student ship and make good use of the opportunity given to them not forgetting the challenge they encountered in obtaining admission into the institute.

Adding that, she pleaded with them to be of good behavior and face their studies so they can make remarkable difference in the institution and society at large.

The provost warm fully welcomed the martriculating student into the NIj family giving them full right,opportunities and privileges as students of the institution.

Elizabeth revealed to students that in two weeks time, the International Press Institute(IPI)will conduct a training program for staffs and students of the institute which will increase their knowledge in Communication.

She emphasized on the new development in National Youth Service Corp(NYSC), the demand that every student must have the original copy of Joint admission and matriculation board (Jamb) result and registration number to be able to serve their father land. In related development, the original jamb registration Number and Result is an evidence that admission was obtained through Jamb. She however advised students to make sure they meet the proper requirement to avoid challenges in future.

Students in turn took the matriculation Oat and promised to cherish the opportunity given to them and abide by the rules and regulation Governing the Institution.
